Words of wisdom: your great potential

I’m reading Seth Godin’s Linchpin right now and this quote from my Pinterest board “Words on Creativity” jumped out at me. In the book, Seth talks about the cog vs the indispensable person, how we’re all able to do great things, we just have to make our lizard brain get out of the way and hush up for a moment.

As I’m growing in my profession, I’ve realized lately that there are things I have wanted to do (or still want to do), but have held back either because of fear/anxiety, lack of confidence, or feeling like I haven’t “earned” that place yet amongst professional Architects (with a capital A). I briefly touch on this in the recent blog about being an “Almost Architect”.

Seth’s book, and this art image, remind me that no matter my station – I can create beautiful and wonderful things. We all can. We have great potential. We can do great and wonderful things, we just have to kick fear to the curb.

What about you?

What are you hoping to do, say just in the next year, that you didn’t think you could do before? If you’ve overcome this in the past, what tips might you have for us just starting out to ensure we “fight the resistance”?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
