Inspiration #32

This week’s inspiration stays in the kitchen. After a look at clean, minimal kitchens and then at built-in cabinet layouts, let’s check the counter. The butcher block counter to be specific. I love me a good place to cut my veggies, and the wood brings some warmth to the white, modern spaces.

This is the latest in a weekly post of residential architecture inspiration. If you want to see past weeks, you can go here. If you want to see them curated on my pinterest (sometimes before they even hit the blog), go here.

This is more plank than actual butcher block counter, but it looks inviting nonetheless. I can almost feel the texture of the wood grain on the tip of my fingers. This would be an interesting re-use application.

This butcher block counter is a softer color, perhaps an ash or maple. The muted color helps keep the tone soothing in this kitchen that is clearly prepping for Christmas!

What’s better than a butcher block counter? A butcher block counter with a herringbone set! This is gorgeous, hands down.

Another butcher block counter in plank format, with a glimpse at a wood beam above. Somewhat rustic farmhouse-style, but the bright whites help bounce space deep into the elongated kitchen and give it a modern feel.

This darker butcher block counter doesn’t feel drastic because of a slightly tanned base cabinet. I love the simple art shelf at the corner and the hints at a modern range hood box to the left.

Last but not least, a butcher block counter at a split-level peninsula, serving as both prep and eating space. I’m not entirely sure,  however, if that’s an actual knife-friendly prep space, though, given the thinness at the profile edge. Beautiful either way, and a hint at mixed counters with the sink space off to the right.
